Agnes Waruguru likes to consider herself as a ‘ contemporary landscape painter’.
In “Sea Garden” she alternates slow meditative processes and quick reactive moments, for this at once formal and abstract work on paper inspired by the shore of a lagoon. Always experimenting in capturing the materiality of her subject matter, she added salt and water to the other materials she used- inks, acrylic paint, and natural and synthetic dyes. Doing so she underlines how her process includes the collection and use of natural materials from the physical environment she is at the moment of production of a piece.
