In “ If Equality was Human” the artist reverts to a technique he has used in the past, which is adding parts of photographic prints to his collages which include cutouts of bark cloth and other fabrics. This work could allude to a Renaissance depiction of the moment after the Crucifixion as Jesus is carried to be laid in his tomb. But the garments of the characters seem more associated with Muslim attire, suggesting perhaps a more universal story.
Sekajuku points to the high level of socio-economic inequality in East African countries, and to the fact that global challenges like Climate Change, a consequence of the Western way of life since the Industrial Revolution, disproportionately affect the developing world.
