Martin Jakaila uses landscape as a way of exploring a variety of ideas : identity, memory, changes. In his new paintings, he subtly subverts realistic depictions of some of Kenya’s natural landscapes - which he recalls from his childhood spent near Lake Victoria - with slightly distorted compositions.
