Ranti Bam
British-Nigerian artist Ranti Bam (living and working between London and Lagos) is best known for her terracotta works inspired by a love of words and metaphor, and the extraordinary characteristics of clay. She combines hand–building, throwing and the use of slips to embellish surfaces with colours, patterns and textures.
Fusing together a painterly and a sculptural approach, Bam challenges hierarchies of form with a unique fluid quality of ease which characterizes her work.
She received an MA from The Sir John Cass school of Art, Architecture and Design, London and after extensive travels, including a two-year pause in Greece, she was accepted onto the renowned City Lit Ceramics Degree course.
Bam has maintained a consistent and dedicated studio practice since graduating, exhibiting in various experimental venues in the UK. In 2018, she participated in curator's Bisi Silva's group show "The Gallery of Small Things" in Senegal.
